Dentistry

at Tavares Animal Hospital

Periodontal disease and gingivitis are some of the most common diseases we see in pets today.  Along with creating bad breath, mouth pain and difficulty eating, dental disease can negatively affect the function of vital organs including the heart, liver, and kidneys.

Many times dental disease in pets goes undetected.  The signs may be very subtle, including bad breath or a slight decreased appetite.

We offer comprehensive oral health assessments and treatment.  During each dental procedure, all teeth are ultrasonically cleaned on the crown of the tooth and underneath the gum line.  Each tooth is probed and evaluated to assess for any disease. If necessary, dental radiographs are taken to evaluate the root structure and also help identify disease that may not be otherwise visible.

In addition to full dentistry services, we also perform oral tumor removal, gingival hyperplasia removal, oronasal fistula repair, and other types of oral surgery.
