Dr. Blackwell received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Michigan State University. After working as an associate for a few years, he felt he needed additional business knowledge to operate his own practice so he pursued a Master of Business Administration from The University of Michigan.

Dr. Blackwell enjoyed successfully running his own veterinary practice for 16 years. He sold his practice with plans of retiring to the south. He and his wife moved to Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas. It wasn’t long before Dr. Blackwell began practicing again. After a few years in Texas, he and his wife decided to retire to Florida to enjoy the many lakes offered in the sunshine state. Again, it wasn’t long before he left retirement behind to work part time here at Tavares Animal hospital doing what he loves best, caring for cats and dogs.
